The Hotel Minneapolis to Build Community Spirit at Aquatennial July 20 Sand Sculpture Competition
July 2008: On Sunday, July 20, one of the winning-est sand sculpture teams in Aquatennial history will wow on-lookers at the southwest corner of Lake Calhoun wih a sleek, stylish take on The Hotel Minneapolis, downtown Minneapols' newest hotel, opening August 1, 2008. The sculpture, which will combine The Hotel Minneapolis' new brand of casual, upscale, and sophisticated hopitliality with a fun, playful look at the hotel's place in the community, will be approximately 8 feet long by 6 feet wide by up to 3 feet tall. Scultping will begin at 10 am.

May 2008: Starting June 7, The Hotel Minneapolis, the new downtown hotel scheduled to open in the historic Midland Building on August 1, 2008, will offer Twin Citians a sneak-peek at its distinctive, living room-style lobby. A traveling version of the hotel’s lobby area will be set up at concerts, film festivals, and events during June, July, and August, inviting curious onlookers an opportunity to relax in comfort and style, meet hotel staff, and enter to great prizes such as a free stay and gift certificates. By sponsoring many community events, The Hotel Minneapolis hopes to demonstrate its commitment to the community and its excitement at being the newest hotel in the downtown neighborhood.
